Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Attendance

Hyderabad,April 6:Speaking at an event held at Ravindra Bharathi on Sunday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of cultural and sports participation among public representatives. Underscoring the significance of arts and culture, the Chief Minister stated that while leaders are constantly grappling with public issues, they should also cultivate an interest in artistic activities as an integral part of leading a balanced life. Noting that many MLAs and MLCs are gradually neglecting their innate talents, he stressed the necessity of reviving and nurturing these abilities.Nurturing such capabilities through cultural platforms: Expressing concern over the rising drug abuse among the youth—many of whom are succumbing to addictions and plunging their families into deep sorrow—Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy presented awards to the winners of the 1st Telangana Legislators’ Sports and Cultural Meet-2026, held in Hyderabad on Sunday. He pointed out that in universities, some students are becoming increasingly dependent on harmful habits. Emphasizing the urgent need for corrective measures and awareness-building, and recalling past practices, the Chief Minister noted that during the era of the united Andhra Pradesh, sports competitions were regularly organized for legislators during the Assembly budget sessions. However, this tradition was discontinued following the formation of the separate state of Telangana. He remarked that, in the past, such events provided an opportunity for elected representatives to showcase their hidden talents and to inspire the younger generation. He stressed that MLAs and MLCs serve as role models for nearly five million students across the state, and therefore, they should actively participate in sports and cultural activities to set a positive example. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the development of sports, he stated that the administration is providing robust support to athletes. The portrayal of the character Duryodhana by Minister Vakiti Srihari at Ravindra Bharathi left the audience spellbound. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Vakiti Srihari revealed that his primary motivation for taking on this role was the observation that the malady of casteism—specifically caste arrogance—still persists among certain individuals in society; he explained that he performed this role with the intention of helping to eradicate such caste-based arrogance. Several dignitaries participated in and addressed the event, including MLAs, MLCs, Ministers, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, and MLAs Mandula Sameelu, Tagore, Shankar Naik, and Ramachandra Naik.
